About the cameraExplore the Survey

The Camera

The PAU Camera (PAUCam) consists of an array of 18 red-sensitive CCD’s of 4kx2k pixels. The Camera is provided with a system of 40 narrow-band (of 10 nm) filters spanning the wavelength range from 450nm to 850nm, and with 5 broad-band filters, namely the u, g, r, i, z set used in the SDSS project.

The Survey

The PAU Survey (PAUS) will provide completed fluxed limited accurate redshift and spectral energy distribution information for millions of galaxies (and stars) to a depth and area never explored before. This is done without the need of target selection which provides a valuable tool to understand sample selection and completeness.

The Science

The evidence for an accelerated expansion of the universe has created a crisis in our understanding of the universe and the fundamental laws of physics. PAUS will shed new light into the Physics of the Accelerating Universe by providing accurate and complete redshift characterization for millions of galaxies.
